Although Rhode Island is the smallest US state, it packs a lot of punch. I’d always wanted to visit Newport, so we used our frequent flier points to make a short end-of-summer vacation before school started.

Sunday – early morning flight to Boston, drive to Providence, RI
Monday – Newport, RI followed by dinner in Mystic, CT
Tuesday – Block Island, RI
Wednesday – spend day in Boston and flight home.
