Rainforest Spa Pass on the Disney Dream

The one thing you have to do on a Disney Cruise is to purchase a pass to the Rainforest Spa. It is a treat! You can buy a day pass for about $16 or purchase a pass for the entire 4-day cruise for about $56.

What is the Rainforest Room? Located in the spa, the Rainforest Room consists of two sections. The first is the lounge/hot tub section and the other is the shower/sauna section.

Hot Tub and Solarium

Surrounded by windows, you will feel outside when using the hot tubs, but you’re not exposed to the elements. The hot tubs hold 2 people each and the bottoms are molded rather like a lounge chair. You can also adjust the temperature and bubbles. Since the spa is adults-only, it’s quiet without screaming kids or loud tourists.

Inside, a glassed-in solarium with 8-10 heated tile lounge chairs greets guests. At first glance, the hard chairs don’t look comfortable. However, wrap yourself in a robe, grab a book and sit down. The heat feels great after a few minutes and you won’t want to leave. Each chair offers an adjustable reading light for cloudy days or night time. Enjoy the relaxing spa music while reading, relaxing or taking a nap with incredible ocean views.

Saunas and Showers

The second section is the shower and sauna area. Inside you will find fresh towels and lemon-infused water served in plastic cups.

Three very different saunas reside in this area. The first is the Caldarium which is very hot and humid. I could only stay in there 5 minutes at the most. When I tried to take a picture, I could only see hot steam.

The next one is milder and is called the Hamam or Turkish Bath. For an extra charge, the spa offers scented salt scrubs.  After applying the scrub, you can sit in the sauna for 10-15 minutes before washing it off in the sinks.

The last sauna, the Laconium, offers dry heat. I liked the large window so I didn’t get claustrophobic. Although not as hot as the other saunas, I had to remember to drink lots of water.

The attendant suggested doing the first two steam saunas, then taking a cooling shower, followed by drying off in the dry sauna. I did different variations depending on my mood.

There are 4 showers. The coldest is the Cool Mist Experience which lasts about 30 seconds with the sound of birds piped in. You can adjust the setting to Siberian Nights or Cold Mist. Although it felt too cold to stand directly under the spray, I enjoyed the surrounding mist to cool off.

On the other side were three showers, each with three settings. Lights flicker with thunder to enhance the experience and each rain program lasted about a minute. The first one was called Tropical Thunder with settings called Atlantic Storm, Mediterranean Rain and Caribbean Storm.

Water Fun’s settings included settings of Southern Storm, Cold Mist and Tropical Rain. The only one that felt really warm was Rainforest. The waterfall setting allowed water to come out of a different spigot in a waterfall pattern. Then there was a warm rain setting. My favorite setting was kneipp which had a combination of the waterfall and the warm rain.

Conclusion

If you’re on the Disney Dream and you enjoy quiet time, this is a must for you. Afterward, go in the locker room and take a shower with the provided shampoo, conditioner and soap and feel relaxed for the rest of your trip!
